Why not get in touch now?
Q: Can I still use flowing screed without underfloor heating?
A: Yes, flow screed is the best method to achieve a level floor
Q: Do all screeds need to be sanded and have laitance removed?
A: No, generally only gypsol flowing screeds require laitance removal.
Q: Do I HAVE to have insulation under the screed?
A: This is down to personal preference, if you have underfloor heating installed, then definitely yes. SSR will not screed over underfloor heating without insulation in place.
Q: Can you create an incline with floor screed?
A: Absolutely not, screed in its nature tries to level itself.
Q: Can you install screed in my car garage/port
A: We have a cement based screed available that can also be used with steel re-enforcements without reacting. We will not use anything that isn’t concrete based on garage floors.
Q: Do I have to use expansion edging?
A: Yes, the floor needs room to move, especially underneath your floor covering.
Q: Can I use anything other that damp proof membrane to lay over the floor?
A: No, 1000 gauge membrane is essential, it is strong and durable enough to prevent screed leaking out and lifting insulation off of the floor.
Q: Will screeded rooms need to be ventilated whilst drying?
A: Yes, very slight ventilation is good, wide open windows, doors and down droughts, however, will cause floors to crack.
Q: How long after pouring will I be able to walk on the floors?
A: This depends on which product you have installed, drying times are between 24 – 72 hours after installation
Q: Can I force dry my floors with underfloor heating?
A: Absolutely NOT! This will cause screed to crack resulting in catastrophic floor failure. You can however after 7 days with most screeds, leave the underfloor heating on its lowest setting.
